Aptigent LLC is a software development and services company based in Beachwood, Ohio. Originally formed as a partnership between three former employees of Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), we specialize in the development of XML and database-intensive educational, administrative and business-to-business applications.
Our consultants have significant real-word experience in the development of digital library applications. Our software engineers worked with Pearson Education (the world's largest publisher of textbooks) to create web-based custom print and student reference sites using Oracle, Java and XML technologies. These same engineers recently completed a web-based digital library project for an aggregator of 19th century periodicals. The result was an application based on several leading-edge technologies (MS Access, MS Index Server, MS SQL Server, ASP, and XSLT) that delivers multiple-resolution images and linked XML content to hundreds of educational institutions in the United States. This same application recently won the 2003 E-Lincoln Prize. Along with these projects, Aptigent's partners have worked on digital library projects with clients such as IBM, the Vatican Library, Prentice-Hall and Andrew Wyeth.
With PageArk, our flagship product, we have leveraged our expertise with digital library applications and XML technologies to create an efficient digital library system that can be used to deploy collections on nothing more than a networked Windows desktop system running Windows NT/2000. In addition, Aptigent's consultants have completed several XML content projects, including the conversion of QuarkXPress files to XML for McGraw-Hill, customized XML-to-print services using Advent's 3B2 print composition system, and metadata consultation to Cisco's eLearning Institute.
In addition to publishing and XML-related projects, our consultants have developed Internet and Intranet sites for businesses and universities, and have provided network design and B2B application development for a major global manufacturing concern. Our consultants recently developed an eLearning web site in conjunction with the Chemistry Department at CWRU. Using this site, students can access content-rich course materials - including digital video of lectures, the textbook, the syllabus, handouts, exam questions and the review sessions - all on-line and on-demand! And in recognition of the growing importance to our clients of Internet security and IP telephony, Aptigent has established consulting practices in both areas.
As well as undertaking technology-specific projects, Aptigent's partners have acted as primary managers on a number of projects including: an assignment as Interim Vice President for Information Services and CIO at CWRU, Technical Project Manager of Project Emissary at Simon and Schuster, and Off-shore Development Manager for a global B2B project undertaken by General Electric.
With this far-ranging set of both skills and real-world project experience, Aptigent stands ready to assist you with your information technology needs today.
